What is an InKcy?
An InKcy (ink-cee) is a character who strives to be a "Link to Inclusion". The InKcy's live in InKcy Town, the home of Peeky Lou Lane. They will be starring in their own book, characters are released every 2 weeks starting May 1st 2012. Each Character will be released with a photo and a story. Below you will find our current list of characters. Their first official story is already in the illustration phase!
So what makes an InKcy? Well, every InKcy either has special needs, or loves someone with a special need. The primary focus of InKcy's will be tailored to the Autism Spectrum, but they also will branch out into other disabilities in an effort to promote inclusion in it's entirety, so chances are? If you love someone who has "Special Abilities"? Or if you have "Special Abilities" yourself? You will eventually find an InKcy who you can relate to!

ABOUT THE BOOKS
In the beginning each book will focus on a topic, and each topic will be presented in a format similar to a social story. We plan to cover many topics, and explore many characters. Some of the words will have PECS pictures above them in an effort to improve recognition of words, vocabulary, interaction and understanding. In addition each story has a plot, follows a certain emotion, a "cause" and reaction and so much more. Stories will be made very short so even if your child has the shortest attention span ever (as my own ASD child does) it will be quick, easy and over. In the front will be a letter to parents, and in the back will be tips for parents and suggestions to try if their child is currently going through the same situations. Whether it's a first move, the first day of school, bullying, hectic holidays, losing a tooth, or just every day growing! We hope the InKcy's will be able to help you and your child explore various topics and provide tools necessary to make every day situations and experiences easier for both of you!
In the beginning the books will be tailored to younger children, but The InKcy's come in all ages! As we introduce new characters, books will mature to follow your child throughout life- and yes- there are Adult InKcy's who will have very important messages regarding the adult Autism Community!
